Tested and developed in cooperation the BRK Mountain Rescue Service, this precision compass from K&R was built with durability in mind. What really separates the Sherpa BW2 from the rest of the mirror sighting field is the thermo-elastic fluid filled capsule and the solid metal mirror (polished aluminum).

K&R's thermo-elastic capsule is flexible, not brittle. This accomplishes two things: 1) the capsule flexes with temperature changes to keep out bubbles, and 2) the capsule doesn't develop leaking hairline cracks when you drop it (or step on it).

And since the sighting mirror is made of solid metal housed in a durable ABS lid -- there is no fragile glass or plexiglas to crack or break.

Other features of the Sherpa BW2 include adjustable declination, luminous points, sapphire jeweled bearing, adjustable declination, a magnifying glass, circular and triangular cutouts for map marking, inch and mm rulers, 1:24,000 and 1:63,360 map scales, 0-360 azimuth ring with 2 degree graduations, rubber feet on the transparent baseplate, and a slotted mirror. Each Sherpa BW2 also includes a comfortably wide and reflective neck lanyard with a quick-release buckle. Like all our other standard needle compasses, this compass is balanced for zone 1 (North America, Europe, Russia, Northern Asia). Kasper & Richter has been manufacturing precision instruments in Germany since 1920.
