This one-of-a-kind baseplate from Brunton features a true optical sighting optic in the side of the compass capsule. You can use the compass like a typical baseplate map compass, or if you hold it up flat at eye level, you can take a direct read bearing through the sighting optic. By using the sighting optic you can really take advantage of the precise 1/2 degree accuracy offered by the 54LU. The graduation marks on the compass bezel are every two degrees, and the graduation marks on the compass card (viewable through the sighting optic) are every one degree. Map scales included are the standard 1:63,360 scales, plus both the 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 meter scales. Other features include luminous points, a map magnifier, and neck lanyard.
